RFID Site Inspection/Survey

An RFID site survey is a physical survey of the site where the RFID processes will occur. A survey identifies optimal locations for the RFID tags on the products, as well as the optimal locations for readers so the RFID processes work 100% of the time. An initial site survey is a detailed study of a site to evaluate and analyze the company’s business processes and determine how RFID can be integrated into those processes.

The purpose of the site assessment is to evaluate the environment in which the RFID system would come in place. The primary reason to undertake a site assessment is to examine the environment where the network is to be deployed and the items that are to be tagged. A RFID system may seem to be perfect during the demo but when it is actually put to work on field there might arise some technical challenges in real.

time which may make the system at risk. ESealStore’s site assessment services will ensure that customers are well aware about these challenges in advance before they invest in the technology. It is very important to be ready with solutions for the problems to be faced during technology deployment.

The goals of conducting site assessment are to

Understand the present system

Conceptualize technology alignment

Plan integration with present/existing system

Develop a bill of material

Plan a schedule for implementation

Identify risks

ESealStore site survey constitutes a physical review, analysis, recommendations and report by one of our qualified RFID Engineers of the site where RFID infrastructure and equipment will be installed so that your RFID processes work up to date. The survey provides a complete understanding of your requirements for an RFID installation for your facility and identifies the feasibility of successfully deploying RFID technology. We will determine optimal locations for the physical installation of your RFID readers and antenna, the number of unique RFID Zones you will need and document integration requirements for systems requiring integration with your RFID network.

When considering the use of wireless equipment, it is extremely difficult to calculate the transmission of radio waves and detect the presence of interfering signals without the use of specialized test equipment. Even with Omni-directional antennas, radio waves do not travel the same distance in all directions. Walls, doors, elevator shafts, people, and other obstacles offer varying degrees of reduction, which cause the radio frequency (RF) radiation pattern to be irregular and unpredictable. As a result, an RFID site survey should be performed to understand fully the behavior of radio waves within a facility before installing any wireless devices.

The site survey will provide equipment quantity, placement recommendations, product brand recommendations, power considerations, and wiring requirements as they relate to your facility. Included with each site survey will be a site survey analysis document, detailing the required location for RFID hardware, the type of cabling to be installed and an outline of how the RFID system will integrate into your existing network.
